Previously navigating hardship, as well as life as a teenage mother, she has used her experience to build something constructive and is now working at听口交颜射 as a Jobs Growth Wales+ Learning Coach. She has also recently completed her master鈥檚 degree in Youth and Community Work.

鈥淕rowing up, I experienced a lot of challenges 鈥 from witnessing death and drug misuse to becoming a teenage mother myself,鈥 she said. 鈥淭hese experiences shaped who I am and sparked a deep desire to understand the events, triggers, and underlying factors that influence young people’s behaviours.

鈥淟earning gave me clarity, purpose, and healing. I wanted to resonate with young people, not just on a professional level, but through shared lived experience. [I am] proof that, regardless of how life begins, it鈥檚 possible to overcome obstacles and accomplish positive things.鈥

This perspective continues to be at the heart of Kellie鈥檚 work, where she supports learners facing similar barriers. During her time at 口交颜射, Kellie has seen first-hand the impact of simply being present for young people.

鈥淛ust being present can make a massive difference. Many of the learners I support are dealing with more than just poor attendance, they鈥檙e often struggling with complex personal issues, mental health challenges, financial issues or unstable home environments.鈥

As well as a connection through similar experiences, Kellie credits her academic studies with helping her see beyond learners鈥 surface-level behaviours and helping her develop a reflective and compassionate approach.

鈥淏ehaviour is often communication,鈥 she added. 鈥淲hen we take time to understand the root causes, we can support change rather than just manage symptoms.鈥

In her role as an Attendance Officer, and now a Learning Coach, she has learned the value of relational work, building trust with learners by being empathetic.

鈥淓ven though my role is primarily as an Attendance Officer, many of [the learners] see me as much more than that. I鈥檝e built relationships based on trust, consistency, and mutual respect. I鈥檓 proud to be seen as someone who makes a positive difference in their day.鈥

Off the back of her academic achievements, Kellie has recently been offered the opportunity to travel to the Ivory Coast on a scholarship, where she will work with children, young people, and families across education centres and youth facilities.

鈥淚t鈥檚 a chance to see how communities in a completely different cultural and social context support their young people and families,鈥 she explained. 鈥淚 also hope to share some of what I鈥檝e learned through my own studies and lived experiences – not as an expert, but as someone who genuinely cares.鈥

Though short-term, the opportunity offers Kellie a chance to grow in cultural understanding and bring back new insights to her work in Wales.

鈥淯nderstanding a new culture in depth will help me develop greater cultural awareness and sensitivity – both of which are vital when working in inclusive, youth-focused environments like 口交颜射,鈥 she said.

Despite the exciting international journey ahead, Kellie is committed to her work at 口交颜射.

鈥淯ltimately, my goal is simple: I want to be someone the young people remember,鈥 she added. 鈥淣ot just as an Attendance Officer, but as someone who truly listened, cared, and helped them believe in themselves.鈥

Practical ways you can help your teen this GCSE results day /blog/2025/08/19/practical-ways-you-can-help-your-teen-this-gcse-results-day/ Tue, 19 Aug 2025 08:30:03 +0000 /?p=8500 As GCSE results day approaches, many parents find themselves navigating a mix of emotions, not just vicariously through their teens, but experiencing them firsthand. Results day can bring excitement and relief but also anxiety and a sense of uncertainty about what’s next for your young person.

Whether your child gets the grades they hoped for or not, there are things you can do to support them at such a pivotal moment in their educational journey.

At 口交颜射, we鈥檝e worked with thousands of young people as they navigate through this time and, contrary to popular belief, you don鈥檛 need to have all the answers. We鈥檝e put together a few practical ways parents can help.

Keep talk positive and open

GCSE results seem like the be-all and end-all at the time, but they don鈥檛 define your child 鈥 and that鈥檚 something you may need to be reminded of as well as your child. GCSEs are just one milestone on a much bigger journey.

Whether the results are better or worse than expected, keeping calm and positive is important.

Focus on your child’s strengths, interests, and the opportunities ahead, rather than dwelling on disappointments. Let them know that you鈥檙e proud of their effort and that you鈥檒l support them no matter what.

Explore options together

Many young people aren鈥檛 aware that sixth form or college aren鈥檛 the only options. It鈥檚 important that they know all the different pathways available to them and the opportunities that will play to their strengths. One option is Jobs Growth Wales+, a Welsh Government training and development programme for 16鈥19-year-olds. JGW+ can help hone numeracy, literacy, and employability skills while also helping young people progress in their chosen field.

For teens who want a bit more freedom from and a more practical, career-focused route, Jobs Growth Wales+ can be a great option 鈥 even if they haven鈥檛 chosen a particular career pathway yet.听 JGW+ can help boost confidence and life skills, as well as offer support for wellbeing and mentorship.

Tap into some insider knowledge

While exploration of different options is positive and insightful, it can also be nerve-wracking and, likely, quite overwhelming. If your teen is experiencing information overload, encourage them to speak with a careers adviser or to attend open days at training providers or colleges.

No one knows a programme as well as the staff that live and breathe it every day, as such they are a great source of information. If your child feels uncomfortable asking questions, attend a meeting or open day with them and compile a list of questions beforehand that you can chip in and ask if they鈥檙e feeling shy.

Sometimes simply talking through a lot of information can make things less overwhelming. Ask your teen if they would like to go over their options with you, and put together a list of the pros and cons of each option.

Avoid comparisons and promote individuality

As with many aspects of modern-day life, the pressure of comparison looms large during GCSE results day. Your teen will likely compare themselves to others 鈥 to their friends, their peers or even to random people on the news or social media.

If their results are vastly different to others it is natural that they will feel left out, especially if their results mean that they can鈥檛 follow the same path as their mates, or that their plans to 鈥榮tick together鈥 after GCSEs have been disrupted.

Understandably, there is a strong sense of comfort and security from friends and this change can cause added stress and emotional upheaval. Remind your teen that it鈥檚 okay to explore different options. Stepping out of their comfort zones can unlock new, undiscovered pathways and their friends will still be there for them even if they are pursuing different options.

They鈥檙e independent but you shouldn鈥檛 disengage

Regardless of outcome, GCSE results day is a pivotal turning point when your child will start making more and more independent choices about their future. Encourage that independence but stay engaged and informed. Help them with applications, offer to visit training providers and colleges with them, and keep checking in emotionally. If they seem ungrateful for your input don鈥檛 be offended, this is a stressful time for them and emotions are high. Even if they don鈥檛 show it, your support and encouragement are appreciated.

Why business leaders must step up for Wales鈥 young people /blog/2025/07/14/why-business-leaders-must-step-up-for-wales-young-people/ Mon, 14 Jul 2025 09:42:08 +0000 /?p=8300 As employers we often talk about the skills gap, about young people entering the workforce unprepared, and about the challenges of recruitment and retention. But the real question is: what are we doing to change that?

Here in Wales, the Welsh Government鈥檚 Young Person鈥檚 Guarantee is a much-needed commitment to our 16鈥24-year-olds, ensuring young adults have access to support, education, training and employment. But its success depends largely on us 鈥 the businesses of Wales.

At 口交颜射, we鈥檙e calling on businesses to step up and join our a commitment to support Jobs Growth Wales + learners, aged 16 to 19, through work placements or early career opportunities. It鈥檚 a simple but powerful action that can shape a young person鈥檚 future and strengthen your business at the same time.

This isn鈥檛 just about doing the right thing, it鈥檚 about doing something proactive for your organisation鈥檚 output. Our experience working with thousands of employers across Wales has shown that young people bring energy, fresh thinking, and long-term potential to the workplace. They ask questions, offer new perspectives, and often challenge us when we鈥檙e set in our ways.

Crucially, through 口交颜射鈥檚 Employer Pledge, there鈥檚 no cost to you for taking on a learner. We cover the learner鈥檚 allowance while you benefit from a motivated individual eager to learn and contribute. What鈥檚 more, our dedicated team supports you every step of the way to ensure the process is seamless for both parties.

Of course, there鈥檚 also a moral imperative here. For many young people, especially those who are often overlooked for opportunities or who haven鈥檛 thrived in traditional education, a placement can be life changing. It offers a foot in the door, a boost to their confidence, and a glimpse of what their future could be in a sector they鈥檙e passionate about. As employers, we have the ability 鈥 and I would say, the responsibility – to create those opportunities.

Captiva Spa in Caerphilly is one business who has committed to supporting young people. They鈥檝e taken on learners who have not only become valuable team members during their placements but have gone on to become long-term employees and even managers. Likewise, Cardiff-based finance company Ramsay & White听have welcomed two Jobs Growth Wales+ learners as permanent staff after watching them flourish on placement. These are not one-off success stories, they鈥檙e examples of what happens when businesses invest in potential.

Supporting the Young Person鈥檚 Guarantee through 口交颜射鈥檚 Employer Pledge isn鈥檛 about ticking a box. It鈥檚 about changing lives through building a talent pipeline, supporting the local community, and shaping the kind of workforce we all want to see – skilled, engaged, and future-proof.

To those still on the fence, I say don鈥檛 underestimate what a young person can bring to your team. Yes, they might need guidance but with the right mentoring they often surprise us with their initiative, drive, and ideas.

At 口交颜射, our purpose is 鈥榠mproving lives through learning鈥 but we can鈥檛 do it alone. We need businesses across Wales to get behind the pledge and help support our future workforce to thrive.

Captiva Spa /success-stories/captiva-spa/ Tue, 01 Jul 2025 09:05:45 +0000 /?post_type=success_story&p=8165

Caerphilly-based Captiva Spa is one of many Welsh businesses seeing the benefits of professional collaboration after offering work placements to learners.

Through their partnership with Wales鈥 leading training provider, 口交颜射, Captiva Spa has opened its doors to young apprentices aged 16 to 19, offering them real-world experience and the chance to develop practical, on-the-job skills.

Sarah Bruton, Managing Director at Captiva Spa, decided to offer placements in response to the gap between education and employment readiness, something that she believed a placement would bridge.

鈥淲e all know there鈥檚 a gap between what鈥檚 taught in school and what鈥檚 needed in the workplace, especially in the hair and beauty sector,鈥 Sarah said. 鈥淩ather than complaining about that gap, we thought 鈥榳hy not be part of the solution?鈥欌

While there were initial concerns about the additional commitments needed to support young learners, Sarah quickly found those fears to be unfounded.

鈥淲e expected it to be time-consuming and potentially challenging. But in reality, the learners were incredibly quick to adapt. They brought a real energy to the salon and very quickly became valued members of the team.鈥

And the impact has extended well beyond just having an extra pair of hands.

鈥淸The learners] ask questions, they challenge us to think differently, and that鈥檚 helped us improve our processes. They鈥檙e also much more aware of social media and emerging trends, which helps keep the business fresh and appealing to younger audiences.鈥

Captiva Spa has also seen how valuable these placements are in developing future talent. Many of the learners go on to stay with the business, becoming long-term employees. One standout success is the salon鈥檚 current deputy manager, who started as a learner on placement.

鈥淲e鈥檝e seen learners grow massively in just a few months. Their communication improves, their confidence grows, and they become genuine assets to the business.鈥

And the benefits aren鈥檛 just one-sided. While learners gain invaluable workplace experience, the business gains a clearer understanding of its own development needs.

鈥淗aving learners on board has made us think more strategically about staff training and mentoring. It鈥檚 influenced how we approach workforce development across the whole team.鈥

The placement programme has also helped foster a culture of mentorship at Captiva Spa; something Sarah sees as vital not just for learners, but for all staff whether they鈥檝e been with the company 10 weeks or 10 years.

鈥淚t鈥檚 made us better at supporting each other. Our team now thrives on sharing knowledge, and that culture of learning benefits everyone.鈥

Asked what advice Sarah would give to other businesses considering whether to offer placement she said: 鈥淒on鈥檛 focus on what the learners don鈥檛 know yet. Focus on what

you can teach them. You鈥檒l find they bring just as much to your business as you give to them.鈥

Captiva Spa鈥檚 story is just one example of how work-based learning can benefit both learners and employers alike. 口交颜射 works with businesses across Wales to help young people gain meaningful experiences.

口交颜射 is encouraging more employers to sign its Employer Pledge 鈥 a commitment to support Jobs Growth Wales+ learners aged 16 to 19 through real-world work placements.

By signing the pledge, businesses can play a vital role in developing young talent, shaping future professionals, and bringing fresh perspectives into their teams. In turn, learners gain confidence, resilience, and invaluable skills that can鈥檛 be taught in the classroom.

Despite just landing the role, Nathan is keen to not rest on his laurels and has big aspirations for his future career.

Ramsay & White /success-stories/ramsay-white/ Tue, 01 Jul 2025 08:56:08 +0000 /?post_type=success_story&p=8167

A Cardiff-based finance broker specialising in mortgages and independent financial advice has added new talent to the team through the Jobs Growth Wales + programme.听

Ramsay & White has recently welcomed two permanent members of staff to their administrative team after JGW+ learners, Seren and Tate, showcased their hard work on placement with the company.

The additions are especially important for Head of Admin at Ramsay & White, Rachel Morley, who is a former JGW+ learner herself and who jumped at the opportunity to support learners beginning their career.

鈥淲e鈥檙e one of the fastest-growing finance companies in the UK,鈥 Rachel explained, 鈥渁nd many years ago, JGW gave me my start in this industry. It鈥檚 a full-circle moment to now help others find their feet in finance.鈥

Seren and Tate have both been recruited as case managers to support Ramsay & White鈥檚 administrative hub 鈥 a crucial role in ensuring the smooth running of client cases.

When asked what the company was looking for in potential candidates, Rachel said:

鈥淲e needed individuals who were willing to be proactive and motivated, and learn. Those qualities were essential because the work involves a lot of detailed processes.鈥

And it didn鈥檛 take long for Seren and Tate to impress their employer. Their determination and enthusiasm stood out, leading to the offer of permanent contracts. 鈥淸The transition] was seamless,鈥 Rachel said. 鈥淭hey鈥檙e now fully up and running, managing their own cases and working directly with clients. All we needed to do was issue new permanent contracts.鈥

The impact of the two new team members has been significant. 鈥淸Seren and Tate] have brought stability and growth to the business and have truly become part of the team,鈥 Rachel added.

For Ramsay & White, the decision to take on learners through Jobs Growth Wales+ has been a resounding success. Talking about the importance of providing opportunities for learners, Rachel commented: 鈥淓veryone starts somewhere. Why not give a chance to someone who鈥檚 eager to learn and ready to start their career path?鈥

Further to this, Rachel encourages other businesses to consider bringing learners or apprentices on board. 鈥100%鈥攇ive it a go,鈥 she said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 a fantastic opportunity for businesses and learners alike. Not only can it help a business grow, but it also gives learners the chance to begin building their future.鈥

Lois Denatale /success-stories/lois-denatale/ Tue, 01 Jul 2025 07:56:19 +0000 /?post_type=success_story&p=8158

Back in 2021, learner Lois Denatale began a placement with Caerphilly-based business Sauce (previously Print Sauce). Lois was a driven teenager eager to get experience in the workplace while working towards her Business Administration apprenticeship. Fast forward four years and Lois is still going strong at the South Wales signage company 鈥 now a highly-skilled and experienced member of the team.

Lois initially discovered the opportunity through her 口交颜射 assessor, Michelle Marshall.

鈥淚 was on placement when I found out there might be an apprenticeship opportunity with Sauce,鈥 Lois explained previously. 鈥淭he role appealed to me because it was very varied and no two days were the same. The apprenticeship let me start without experience and learn on the job.鈥

听Sauce is known for producing bespoke signage and vehicle graphics for a range of big-name clients including Warner Bros, Cardiff University, Cardiff Met, the University of South Wales, and Monmouthshire Council.听

While there were some initial uncertainties about offering placements to young workers, it was always something Gary Bagstaff, the company鈥檚 director, was eager to try.

鈥淚 grew up in Caerphilly and so supporting the local community has always been important to me,鈥 Gary said. 鈥淔or us to be able to give a young person from the town an opportunity makes me feel proud 鈥 it鈥檚 also good for the business.

鈥淏efore we got in touch with 口交颜射, I was a little daunted about what was involved in taking on an apprentice or a young learner. It wasn鈥檛 something I knew anything about, but once I spoke to 口交颜射 it was really straightforward. They came out to see us and the process was simple from day one. I鈥檇 recommend it to any business.鈥

Over the years, Lois has taken on increasing responsibility within the team and, despite now completing her studies, continues to find enjoyment and new skills within the work.

鈥淢y initial placement has now evolved into a full-time job. It鈥檚 brilliant working here, it鈥檚 a really fun job to do.

鈥淭he placement helped me to develop my communication skills and make me feel more confident in speaking with customers,鈥 she added. 鈥淓veryone helped me feel valued and part of the team.鈥

Ethan Smith /success-stories/ethan-smith/ Tue, 01 Jul 2025 07:46:34 +0000 /?post_type=success_story&p=8155 When Ethan听Smith joined the Jobs Growth Wales+ (JGW+) programme in 2023, hairdressing wasn鈥檛 even on his radar. But just over a year later, he鈥檚 thriving in a salon that he describes as his 鈥渇orever fit,鈥 progressing through a Level 2 apprenticeship and planning for a long-term career in the industry.

Though firmly established now,听Ethan鈥檚 journey began in a completely different field.

鈥淚 started with JGW+ in 2023. At first, I thought I wanted to go into childcare,鈥 he explained. 鈥淏ut JGW+ and 口交颜射 have supported me through every twist and turn. They helped me discover the career I didn鈥檛 know was meant for me.鈥

After exploring different routes, including retail, it was a simple suggestion from his tutor, Kayleigh Carter, that changed everything. 鈥淚 suggested he try out hairdressing,鈥 she said. 鈥淔rom day one, it just clicked for him. He鈥檚 thrown himself into it ever since and has really found his spark, hairdressing suits him perfectly.鈥

Ethan听says the hands-on elements of the JGW+ programme were what drew him in.

鈥淎s a learner, I loved the practical side. It gave me a real insight into what it would be like to be a hairdresser. The theory was explained well too, it made everything easier to understand.鈥

But the path wasn鈥檛 always smooth. His first salon placement wasn鈥檛 the right fit. 鈥淚 felt like I couldn鈥檛 reach my full potential there,鈥 he said. 鈥淚 raised my concerns with JGW+ and 口交颜射, and they supported me completely. I was out of placement for three months, but they kept me going, helping with coursework and practical training in-centre.鈥

Then came a turning point in December 2024.听Ethan听started at a new salon and everything changed. 鈥淚 found a salon that I can see myself in forever. It restored my confidence completely. Now I鈥檝e been taken on as a Level 2 apprentice, and I鈥檓 being pushed to reach my full potential every day.鈥

Kayleigh, a JGW+ Skills Tutor at 口交颜射, has seen first-hand how far听Ethan听has come. 鈥Ethan听is a really kind and friendly person who鈥檚 always up for giving things a go,鈥 she said. 鈥淗e wasn鈥檛 sure what direction he wanted to take at first, but he stuck with it and kept pushing forward. I鈥檓 very proud of him.鈥

Talking about the support he received from 口交颜射,听Ethan听said: 鈥淭hey were always there whether it was about placements, coursework, or even personal struggles. They never let me fall behind. Kayleigh, in particular, has been amazing. Nothing was ever too much for her. She really encouraged me to stick with what I was good at.鈥

Looking ahead,听Ethan听has a clear path to follow. 鈥淢y goal is to complete both Level 2 and Level 3 in hairdressing and barbering,鈥 he explained. 鈥淚 want to keep growing in the salon and maybe one day specialise in a particular area.

鈥淣one of this would have been possible without JGW+ and 口交颜射. I鈥檓 forever grateful.鈥

For those considering JGW+ as a post-16 education route,听Ethan听shared: 鈥淒o it! There are no limits with this programme. They鈥檒l do everything they can to get you on the career ladder and into the profession that鈥檚 right for you.鈥
