About this course
Our Level 5 Apprenticeship in Children鈥檚 Care, Play, Learning & Development, Leadership & Management enables learners to develop and demonstrate their knowledge, skills and understanding in the context of children鈥檚 care, play, learning and development settings.听
Learners will be able to demonstrate that they understand a range of leadership and management concepts, theories and techniques.听
This Apprenticeship is for learners employed within the Children鈥檚 Care, Play, Learning and Development sector.听
It provides progression for learners who have completed the Level 3 Children鈥檚 Care, Play, Learning and Development (practice) or a legacy qualification listed in the Social Care Wales 鈥� Qualifications Framework for Social Care and Regulated Childcare in Wales or has relevant experience in the sector.听
Learners will be required to undertake a mixture of mandatory units and optional units (we will work with you to decide what optional units are relevant to your role, and your business).听
When you agree to undertake an apprenticeship, you may be required to complete essential skills qualifications, depending on your previous qualifications, the apprenticeship level you are completing and your own particular needs.听
This qualification will primarily be delivered through 1-to-1 sessions with a member of our delivery team, using a mixture of face-to-face and remote learning sessions.听
Upon enrolment, learners are also allocated an assessor. Throughout the qualification, the assessor will visit the learner either at their workplace or remotely (for example, via Microsoft Teams) on a monthly basis, to support progress, observe and set tasks.听
Learners are supported and encouraged throughout their qualification to reach their full potential in their chosen industry.听

To start an Apprenticeship in Wales, you need to be:听
- aged 16 or over (there is no upper age limit)听
- living in Wales听
- not in full-time education听
- not accessing any other funding from the Welsh Government听

If you鈥檙e looking to undertake an Apprenticeship qualification as a way of upskilling within your current role, you will also need to be:听
- employed听 for a minimum of 16 hours听
- supported by your employer to undertake the qualification听
- committed to undertaking an average of 8-10 hours of study a week plus classroom听
- working in a role that is relevant to the qualification听
- employed for at least 51% of your contracted hours in Wales听
